SQRT Square Root of an Array

Section: Mathematical Functions

Usage

Computes the square root of the argument matrix. The general syntax for its use is
   y = sqrt(x)

where x is an N-dimensional numerical array.

Example

Here are some examples of using sqrt
--> sqrt(9)

ans =
 3

--> sqrt(i)

ans =
   0.7071 +  0.7071i

--> sqrt(-1)

ans =
   0.0000 +  1.0000i

--> x = rand(4)

x =
    0.6031    0.7537    0.6479    0.3985
    0.8219    0.3124    0.3073    0.5023
    0.1780    0.9026    0.5598    0.9462
    0.6403    0.4911    0.4890    0.7665

--> sqrt(x)

ans =
    0.7766    0.8681    0.8049    0.6313
    0.9066    0.5589    0.5543    0.7087
    0.4219    0.9501    0.7482    0.9727
